Truck fire extinguished

The Penticton Indian Band volunteer fire department were called to a truck fire along Highway 97 at around 7:12 p.m.

Witnesses said the truck was originally reported to be smouldering on the shoulder of the road at around 4 p.m., but because it was not in their jurisdiction, neither the Summerland nor Penticton departments were able to respond.

ARGO road crews kept watch over the situation until the PIB firefighters got things under control.

There is no word of any injuries.
