Man charged after fire

A man is facing charges after he allegedly started a fire in a dry hedge at the Oliver A&W on Monday.

Rob Graham, spokesman for the Oliver Fire Department, said firefighters responded to a call of a cedar hedge on fire, surrounding an electrical transformer, about 4 p.m.

Firefighters had to wait for FortisBC to arrive and then used foam instead of water to fight the flames.

There was no damage to any structures or the transformer, said Graham.

RCMP arrested a suspect near the scene.
