Willowbrook fire update
Oliver and forestry firefighters are still on scene at the Willowbrook wildfire.
As of this morning, the fire, which has been a challenge to fight due to high winds and rocky terrain, was 82 hectares in size with 80 per cent containment.
According to Rob Graham, media relations officer for the Oliver Fire Department, they have been dealing with the fire in the White Lake Road area since Monday evening.
Their initial concern was three homes located near the fire. They responded to the northernmost home, where the most action was happening at the time.
The department requested forestry backup right away, and also from the Willowbrook Fire Department.
On Tuesday, the northernmost home remained the focus of firefighting efforts, but crews mostly dealt with hot spots, said Graham.
The cause is still under investigation, but it is believed to be lightning caused, according to fire information officer Kelsey Winter.
