A family in Oliver has been displaced after their home burned down in the early hours of Friday morning.
Around 3:30 a.m. Oliver RCMP attended a house fire at 6036 Station Street. By the time they arrived, the residence was totally engulfed in flames.
The Oliver Fire Department was able to take control of the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring structures.
Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters were able to confirm that the residence was unoccupied when the fire started.
Grant Beauclair, the owner of the house, confirmed that his daughter and son-in-law lived there with their pets.
Beauclair said he purchased the home around 15 years ago and also owns the properties on either side of the house.
The couple lost all of their belongings, but he was unsure if they were home at the time of the fire, he said.
"I am feeling pretty terrible, I could be feeling better on a Friday," he said.
As for help for the couple who lived in the house, he said it was still too soon to determine what needs to be done.
"We are just taking it one step at a time," he said.
The couple were not at the home on Friday morning. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
