Local goals for 2015

As we mark the end of one year and the beginning of the next, it’s common to make resolutions and set goals for the coming 12 months.
Herewith, a wish list for 2015 for the Central Okanagan:
– Successful completion of negotiations to secure the old CN Rail line for public use that honour First Nation rights, maintain public access and develop the huge tourism and recreation potential of this scenic gem.
– Continued efforts to extend the Clement Connector and relieve pressure off Highway 97 – eventually, all the way out to UBC Okanagan and the airport.
– Continued transformation of the downtown North End in the Clement area and a revived effort to develop a Granville-Island-style public market there.
– A real park at Cedar Avenue in recognition of the long fight by residents of that neighbourhood.
– A productive and fruitful year for Kelowna’s new mayor and council marked not just by co-operation, but real discussion and debate of local issues.
– The setting of economic and social policies that not only help local businesses grow, but support those less fortunate to more fully participate in the community.
– Well-paying jobs for our young so they don’t have to leave the Valley to find meaningful work.
We wish you all a happy new year and success in 2015.
