Oliver Fire Department knocks down fire on Road 11 on July 29.
Oliver firefighters have knocked down a grass fire sparked by a transformer Tuesday afternoon.
Around 2 p.m., the Oliver Fire Department and FortisBC responded to the fire on Road 11 in rural Oliver.
The fire is believed to be caused by a transformer that either was overpowered, or overheated.
"It did catch fire, and was shooting some sparks into some grass, that grass caught fire, which then on the property that it's on, did catch some farm equipment and materials as well," Rob Graham, deputy fire chief, said.
As of 3 p.m., fire crews knocked down the blaze to about 30 metres.
