BC Wildfire Service said it's attending to three spot fires in the Fairview area of Oliver, all started by lightning, as of Monday afternoon.

One crew is attending to each fire in the cluster, including one that struck a tree. Two blazes are near Togo Creek, and the third is on the east side of Hwy 97 at Black Sage Road.

"They are classified as out of control, but they are spot size fires, and all three lightning caused," said a BC Wildfire representative.

A spot fire is currently active at Oliver's Fairview Mountain Golf Course and fire teams with a helicopter are continuing to monitor "numerous lightning strikes."

According to BC Wildfire Service, the fire is out of control and continuing to spread as of 9:50 a.m.

In an updated social media post Monday around 9 a.m., the Oliver Fire Department said BC Wildfire attended the fire, saying "they are actioning this fire and it is also listed in the BCWF app."

"With the storm cell that just passed through our area the OFD is monitoring numerous lightning strikes. We are currently aware of a small spot fire above the Fairview Golf Course."

The fire service said the fire was technically outside of its response area and in difficult terrain. As such, BC Wildfire Service has also been involved.

In another Facebook post, Anarchist Mountain Fire Department shared a map of local lighting strikes.

The firefighter departments are reminding people to call *5555 if a wildfire is seen.
