The organization partially credited with shaping the current make-up of Kelowna City Council is back.
FourChange, which helped get three new councillors elected in 2011, has returned with a new name and a slightly different tact.
Three years ago, FourChange was formed in an effort to change the culture and make-up of City Council
To that end it endorsed four candidates while targeting four others for defeat.
"In the last three years we have seen a dramatic improvement in business in Kelowna and in the operation of City Hall. For that reason, we endorse the continuity of this council and support the re-election bid of all five incumbents," the group states in a news release.
This means ForKelowna is taking a stand on the mayoralty race, something it didn't do - at least publicly - three years ago.
ForKelowna is endorsing Colin Basran's bid for mayor.
While Basran is one of eight candidates running for mayor, the race is, in reality, a two person race between himself and former two-term mayor, Sharon Shepherd.
The electorate voted Shepherd and five of her councillors out of office three years ago in a sweeping change that saw all four councillors targeted by FourChange removed and three of the candidates it endorsed get in.
Only Carol Gran, who is running again as part of the five candidate slate, TaxpayersFirst, did not get elected with the FourChange endorsement.
"With 31 candidates running for councillor positions we believe we can once again play a valuable role by going through a process of due diligence to vet the long list of candidates and respectfully make suggestions for four new councillors.
We are already undertaking the work of surveying candidates and, when completed surveys are received, we will post them on our website to assist voters in their understanding of the candidates."
ForKelowna consists of a six person steering committee, including:

- Barry Lapointe - Founder/President/CEO, Kelowna Flightcraft

- Darryl Doerkson - Senior Underwriter at Interior Equities Corp.
It says to believe in great leadership on council, effective decision making, teamwork throughout the city and focus on keeping Kelowna moving forward.
