It is great news that Kelowna has been awarded the 2008 Summer Games. However, I hope that our city fathers find some money to upgrade the facilities that would be used for these games. The Apple Bowl needs some major upgrades. The changerooms and washroom facilities are small, dirty and dark. There is a need for more stands, better concession, increased parking and more.
Perhaps they can find out when the School District might be ready to move out of Dr. Knox site and buy that property. A new track and football stadium would be a great jewel in the city's crown. Is there some of that 2010 money available from the provincial government for this? Kamloops is in the process of building a new indoor/outdoor facility to be used by their athletes, football players and the public.
