I feel as much as anyone else for the homeless and less fortunate in this world, but its time people took responsibility for themselves and their own lives. There is only so much that others can do for you. Granted, I'm sure that we could use more community assistance programs to help people who are mentally ill and in need, but the problem I think people are having with the Kelowna situation is the drug addicts.
They are over running the downtown core and running business out. Its sickening. Downtown Kelowna is turning into a smaller version of the Eastside in Vancouver. I have no sympathy for these people. You can't help someone that doesn't want to be helped. You cannot make someone go to rehab. They have to want it for themselves and there is a lot of help out there for addicts who want it. As far as no one being able to live off minimum wage, that is a crock. Many people do it. You just can't have everything you want. Maybe you can't have a car, or go shopping every month for clothes. Maybe you have to have roommates or shared accommodation. The point is it can be done. All the other arguments are just excuses. People need to stop making excuses and take charge of their own lives!
And by the way, I am young and do not make a ton of money and have also had to live off minimum wage before.
