It all boils down to faith

RE: Saying it doesn't make it so

The whole discussion about the existence of God has spawned some good dialog.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to a matter of faith.

Going back far enough into history, the believer in God must face the question “Where did God come from?”

Likewise, those who deny the existence of God and believe that all things evolved from some form of pre-existing matter must also face the question “Where did that matter come from?”

Just as the believer in God can not prove where God came from, likewise, the believer in pre-existing matter can not prove where that very first molecule of matter came from.

Both “believers” face the same dilemma; each must accept his conclusion by faith.

While one believes “In the beginning, God...” the other believes “In the beginning, molecule...”

Either position can not be accepted without faith and belief.

Atheism is just as much a matter of faith as theism is; there’s no way around it.

Given both the obvious micro-complexity, and the cosmic-complexity of our universe, the words of a well-known believer in God hit the nail on the head when he said “A fool says in his heart ‘there is no God.'"
