I just arrived into Kelowna after being away for 2 1/2 years and I was amazed as well as disgusted to see the ever increasing epidemic that this city is having with the homeless situation, I know that I have been following this problem via the internet but didn't realize that it was as bad as it is.
Everywhere I looked, from the airport all the way into downtown there was homeless on every corner. What is the Mayor going to do about this problem, I know that they have had meetings about this but thats all talk and no action.
Being that I am no longer a resident and now somewhat of a tourist I find it appalling that Kelowna, which is trying to promote it self as a four seasons resort city wouldn't put more efforts to rectify this problem especially with the influx of tourist coming in for the holiday season, I know that there are a number of people that don't feel comfortable walking downtown because of this and this problem must be affecting sales of those downtown businesses as a result.
Keeping my hand on my wallet.
