For a community to turn their back on a family in need, especially at this time of year, is not only disgraceful it is unequivocally judgmental and shameful.
I would like to believe that the citizens of this city have not responded in aid because they are wrapped up in their own busy lives right now, and not because they are so vain as to believe in their own superiority (as has been shown by some through the letters to the editor).
I challenge everyone to spare a mere $5 or a piece of unused furniture, a bag of groceries or any item that could be of use to this family and contact Lucille at [email protected] or the Bank of Nova Scotia TODAY.
All of those who are unable to give due to their own circumstances CAN give their support verbally – through the newspaper. So stand up Kelowna, get off your soapboxes and pedestals and show this family that you care. After all, it takes a community to raise a child – not cut them down in their time of need.
