Expensive trail closure
The decision to close (a 67-kilometre stretch of) the Kettle Valley Railway Trail trail between Princeton and the Coquihalla Highway will cost $20 million. That is $20 million in taxpayer money. Seriously?
How about spending a few dollars on a sign indicating the trail is closed and any one entering is liable for any damages?
The money is for what? Decommissioning? What is that?
Robert Hepting, Kelowna
(Editor’s note: According to province, the trail was badly damaged in the November 2021 flooding and is not safe. It says it will cost $67 million to repair it versus $20 million to decommission it, with federal disaster funds paying for the work.)
