RE:Might as well support prohibition
I am surprised with the amount of people complaining about the new drinking and driving laws. This is a law that was implemented back in 1977. The only difference is that now police forces actually have teeth to discourage people from breaking the law. Whether you chose to have a drink or two is not the issue. The issue is taking control of a motor vehicle while under the influence.
Restaurant and bar owners are seeing cuts to their bottom line and are complaining about it. It is not the law that is causing this. It is people finally deciding to not drink and drive. There are alternate solutions and a little pre planning can result in a fun evening out. Public transit, taxi services, or a designated driver can eliminate all stresses without putting anyone at risk.
Some will say, 'well that is inconvenient.' What about the inconvenience you cause when, because of a decision to drink and drive, you cause an accident that puts someone in a wheelchair for the rest of their life, or worse, ends their life?
Time to get back to reality people. I enjoy a drink with my dinner or a night out like the rest of you but I make the right choice. I don't drink and drive.
