I've been visiting Bertram Creek Park for years. I go for walks there, swim there, and even got married there. The majority of my visits have been to fish there. I was delighted this year to finally see a new pier being built. After years of the old dock decaying under our feet.
According to information provided by Regional District of the Central Okanagan, it was to be a "fishing/ viewing pier." The new pier looks very nice. Unfortunately viewing is all you can do from it.
The pier is about eight feet over the water with a 42" railing around it. You can't fish from it. You can't temporarily dock your boat there. And there's no way kids can swim off the dock anymore. A huge waste of our money.
The RDCO has dramatically reduced the number of people that can, or will ever, use the pier. I was under the, obviously misinformed, impression that the RDCO was trying to get more people to come enjoy the parks. Not drive them away.
