The good in people

Have you ever done something you were just a tad embarrassed about? Waited until just the 'wrong' time to do it? I did.

While hauling some cargo, I failed to keep track of how many kilometres it had been since I last fueled. My fuel gauge is questionable and a little quirky and for some strange reason, I chose to rely on it's reading as accurate. Bad idea.

Sure enough, I ran out of diesel just as I crested the big hill on Dilworth. There I am, sitting on the side of the road with a dually truck and a big 30 foot horse trailer in tow.

I'm an idiot.

Wayne from Pinnacle Roofing was working up atop the Cascade Falls development that day. He must have spotted the big 'L' on my forehead, because he was quick to come to my rescue. He took me down to the gas station in his vehicle, filled up his jerry-can full of fuel for me, and then brought me back to my truck. He even poured the fuel into the truck so I wouldn't get fuel on me.

I was back rolling within 20 minutes from the time I coughed and sputtered to the side of the road.

So this is a big thank you to you, dear hero. The time you took to come down from your rooftop, allow me to use your phone, be my chauffeur, and get me moving, was time it took for you to make a friend. I'm in your debt.

Not only that, but you managed to make a girl smile and remind her of the good in people again.

Jme Andrew
