Year after year, they have the Ironman Canada come into Penticton year after year many residents of the South Okanagan are victims and house arrested for a matter of days. And year after year, we have to clean up after all the damn cyclists that practice. Year after year it gets tiring!
I'm surprised at this point no one has been hit by a motorist that is sick and tired of this event! I think its time that Penticton gave up this event, and went after something new, and invest in something new, create more excitement, rather than "omg, its that #@!# time of year again for the damn Ironman!"
Now that the event has grown into an expense for the City of Penticton, maybe its time to look for something new that won't cost them $285,000 over the next five years. Why not invest that into something that will be new and great? Start something fun for the whole South Okanagan, rather than a dreaded event that only people from the world come to!
I'm sure almost everyone has heard of "Penticton" for this event! Now the wonderful spin offs that people will state will be for the hotels, restaurants, and oh wait, motels, and café's, and oh don't forget that odd coffee place! But honestly, what more is there? Nothing really!
So seriously, I hope Penticton asks the residents of Okanagan Falls, Oliver, Osoyoos, Cawston, Keremeos, Olalla, and Kaleden should Penticton host an event that will affect their areas? I think they'd be surprised to hear no!
