Questions after chemical spill

RE:This could have been avoided

Living in the Okanagan, where agriculture flourishes, supplied by the many companies housing and distributing these chemicals, it seems through all the reporting there was a short fall on someone or some organizations part in response to this situation.

I would be compelled to ask the question:
Q: Is there a registry for which companies must register their contents in case of a fire?
Q: Is there a procedure in place to ensure quick and (in this case what should have been) immediate response to provide preventative contamination measures, and last of all cleanup?

I wonder if having the knowledge of the chemicals being stored on site, if contacting a spill, contamination prevention company immediately would have prevented this disaster?

I would like to credit the incredible efforts of our highly skilled team of fire fighters in their fast response. Keep up the great work and I look forward to any continued coverage.
