RE:Pets are a commitment
I think the person who wrote this letter has never had to find a new place to live with a pet in tow.
Almost all of the ads for places to rent on the Internet and in the newspapers state "NO PETS". Some say "small pet negotiable." I (for instance) have a Bull-mastiff. No way is he small, I'd be screwed if I had to move. What is a person to do if they own a dog? Even harder if they own more than one dog.
Alot of home owners don't want cats in their houses now, it used to be easier to find something to rent if you had a cat, but even that is proving difficult.
Imagine having to make the heart wrenching decision to give away your buddy? Imagine having to make the decision to put your pet to sleep in order to have a place to live. Which is worse? At least if they go to the SPCA,they have a chance of finding a new home.
Blaming the people who have to move, maybe without their beloved dog/pet is just wrong. Like they want to have to give them up! Unfortunately, sometimes that is the only option.
