I can understand why the residents around the hospital are frustrated with staff taking up all the parking, but I think most of them don't understand why.
I've worked at the hospital as a casual for the past three years and it is extremely difficult to get a parking pass, even after they put up that new parkade. Also, the cost of that pass is outrageous, especially if you are not full or part time. Casuals have to pay the whole cost of a year up front. Imagine being a single parent and having to cough up almost $300!
There are simply too much staff to park and too little room to accommodate the parking. Kelowna just wasn't prepared to get this big and its only going to get worse. There is very little options for us to park so unfortunately we have to park around the hospital in the 2 hr parking zones. Some of us are courteous enough and move our cars every two hours, but most don't.
And it's not like we are the only city with this problem so sometimes you just have to pick your battles. So please don't take it out on me when I park by your house. I don't appreciate your little "notes" on my car about how important that spot is in front of your house or you approaching me and being rude. Put up some no parking signs if you truly don't want anyone to park there. Besides the few inconsiderate people, most will respect your signs and go somewhere else. I'm just trying to make a living and do my job.
