I read a very interesting column on Castanet describing the Regional District of Central Okanagan parks that are located within the City Of Kelowna, which stated those parks are used by Kelowna residents but paid for by the taxpayers of the entire region.
Recently, there was another interesting article about the new Parkinson Recreation Centre in Kelowna, which stated the City of Kelowna is contemplating charging more to members of the public (who live outside the city) and less for residents of Kelowna. Presumably that is because city taxes, as well as admission fees, pay for (city) facilities.
If the city decides to go forward and charge (other) RDCO residents more based on that philosophy, I will be the first to volunteer to stand at the gates to all RDCO parks within city limits, and charge City of Kelowna residents an extra fee to access all RDCO parks.
As always, be careful what you wish for.
