This past weekend was the scene of street festivals in Vancouver and Kelowna.
How different they were. Vancouver became a place of death, an attack with a vehicle and multiple deaths and injured.
The RCMP were very quick to release a statement that there was no evidence of terrorist motivation. Wasn’t that rather quick? Investigations into the background of a suspect normally takes days, weeks or even months.
The people in Kelowna were more lucky Saturday with the Vaisakhi street celebrations. But the question arises, how long until our luck runs out?
Kelowna now faces the question, what measures will be taken for future events like the Vaisakhi festival, to guarantee the safety of residents of Kelowna? I look forward to hearing from Kelowna mayor very soon and hope he won’tstay silent. Or will we simply continue on with our lives, thinking, wrong time, wrong place, life is full of risks?
On the day the Second World War ended in 1945, the whole world said, “??Never again.” Look at the mess we made of the same world in just 80 years.
I am lucky to have lived the largest part of my life and I feel sorry for the young ones, like my my kids and grandkids.
