Re: I will always flash my lights
Just a quick note about the issue of flashing lights at oncoming vehicles to warn them of a speed trap ahead. Doing this is not against the law! At least not in BC. I contacted a former member of the RCMP and asked him if this was illegal and he informed me that it is not.
This is what he had to say:
"It is not illegal to warn others of a speed enforcement location ahead unless you are actually interfering with the officer's ability to do their job. Flashing headlights does not do this in the manner you describe. What is illegal is failing to dim high beams within 500 feet of another vehicle or turning off headlights when they are required."
I have heard of police pulling people over and warning them that they could charge them but don't, because it's not illegal. They are just choked because you did it. If you are charged with that, then take it to court.
