Bernier supported truckers
Re. Franz Steig’s letter in, Reasons for voting (Castanet, March 24)
Maxime Bernier, the leader of the People’s Party of Canada was with the truckers from the beginning of the convoy until the “crushing” end.
Additionally, there is no genocide in Gaza. The 50,000 people killed is the responsibility of Hamas, which started the conflict by attacking Israel (on Oct. 7, 2023). They were alive on Oct. 6, 2023.
What this issue has to do with voting for a candidate (in the upcoming Canadian federal election) eludes me.
Steve Friedman, West Kelowna
(Editor’s note: A United Nations special committee called the death of an estimated 50,000 people in Gaza “genocide” and said the dealth toll was the result of Isreali bombardment and its invasion of the Gaza Strip.)
