Tiny homes not for him

The housing being built is all micro suits and jam-packed apartments.

People are being put in as small a space as possible and have to share any other space with everyone else in the building. Not everyone wants to live like that. Some people like privacy and their own space.

Others don’t like living in the downtown area. I avoid (the area) at all costs.

Some people have hobbies that require outdoor space, such as rebuilding a old car or, like many, do a lot of back-road exploration and don’t want a brand new vehicle for doing that as they upgrade and work on vehicles themselves. Some even have multiple vehicles—one for recreation (4x4) and one for commuting, or a boat or a quad

Some people like to listen to music at home and like it a bit loud. The same goes with watching movies at home. Some like to have a few friends over and it’s nice to not have to worry about having nowhere for them to park. I have seen requirement for a visitor’s pass to park overnight at a friend's if you stay for a night or two or risk getting a fine or (your vehicle) towed away.

This micro-suite “sardine-can” living is not for everyone. I live in an old (house). There is a downstairs suit but I have a yard and carport, parking and shed for other things, but my time is limited here because this place is being sold along with the other houses around me to make way for yet another “sardine can” living space.

I will have to find another older home to rent. The rent I pay for this older two-bedroom house, with the amenities I mentioned, includes all utilities other then Internet, costs about what a one-bedroom place costs after paying for utilities and strata fees.

Not enough is being done to accommodate everyone. All that’s being done is to cram as many people into as small a space as possible to make the most money.

Its terrible that housing has become such a major greed-driven, for-profit business.
