Ship building: A bad deal
In one of his last acts as prime minister, Justin Trudeau authorized $8 billion for Irving Shipbuilders in New Brunswick to build three new destroyers to be deployed in the Arctic.
The ships will not be ready until 2039 and by the government's own metrics, the cost will increase to $22 billion.
Are we under imminent attack from the Russians? The Chinese? Alaska? Greenland?
Can you think of anything else Canada could do with $22 billion?
That was a pure corporate giveaway. What did he get in return? Will we ever know?
