'Wokeness' is empathy

Re. Matt Irnie’s letter, ‘Wokeness’ is communism (Castanet, March 20)

I actually have no response to this letter. I would never waste my time even trying and, frankly, it doesn't deserve one.

At first, I thought to myself, why would Castanet even print something so embarrassing, but then I realized it is good that Castanet prints letters like this.

If people want to out themselves as the worst amongst us (like the three former B.C. Conservative MLAs), we would should be happy to let them.

"Wokeness", as the far right likes to (call it), is basically having empathy but people like the letter writer will never accept or understand that.
