Re. Ian Maclean’s letter, Not a Poilievre fan (Castanet, March 13)
The Liberal government of (former prime minister) Justin Trudeau was the worst government in Canadian history.
(The government) in just 10 years, has destroyed the Canadian dream. Most young people will never own a home meaning they are much less likely to have a family and won’t be able to retire.
(Trudeau’s government) doubled Canada’s national debt. When you print money, you get inflation, any Grade 8 economics student can tell you that. Switzerland didn’t print money during the Covid pandemic and its inflation peaked at 3.2% while Canada hit 8.1% (in 2022)
Trudeau opened the flood gates for mass immigration. I don’t recall ever seeing people wish death to Canada before Trudeau showed up.
The sad thing is (new Prime Minister) Mark Carney is going to make things worse. Printing money is Carney’s home run swing. Former British prime minister Liz Truss made it very clear how Carney (as Bank of England governor) printed way too much money in the U.K.
After (leaving) from The Bank of England in 2020, Carney became Trudeau special economic advisor. Since 2020, Canadian finances have gone off the rails and 50% of Canadians are within $200 of insolvency (accord to MNP Ltd.’s quarterly report on consumer debt) and food banks are overrun.
Canada is in desperate need of a common sense conservative government to right the ship. Another four years of Liberal mismanagement would probably be the end of Canada.
The sharks are circling and Canada has never been more vulnerable.
