Stopping using 'woke'

Can we please stop calling everything "woke"?

Just because you disagree with something, that doesn't mean it's "woke". Being a conservative should not mean you get say hateful things and just cry "woke" when you rightfully get called out or face consequences for being a hateful person.

In reference to (Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldsteam MLA) Tara Armstrong's asking that people listen to the whole podcast she left the B.C. Conservative party over, I did. I was disgusted.

I thought the comments were disgusting and even more, I believe Armstrong is giving conservatives a bad name. The comments in question were reprehensible. As an elected member of the legislature, people should not be spouting reprehensible words—free expression or not. Our representatives should be the best of us and try to lower the temperature of public discourse.

When did common decency become absent from modern day conservatism?

It used to be Conservatives were the ones decrying hate. But now we have elected representatives not only spewing it but doubling down on it thinking they can label everything as “woke" and get away (behaving badly).

Consequences are not “woke.” Being a decent person is not “woke.”

If your only argument against a consequence is that something is “woke,” you probably need to see a psychiatrist, because that's nuts.
