'Congratulations' on failure
Congratulations to B.C. Premier David Eby. His NDP government is the biggest failure to long-term care, home care and child welfare in NDP governing history.
Where did all that money go? I don't have foggiest idea and I am pretty sure he doesn’t either. Where, oh where has the NDP’s basic ideal of caring for the most vulnerable in our society disappeared to? He probably doesn’t have an answer for that either.
My heart goes out to all the dedicated, overworked doctors, nurses, home-care workers, social workers, first responders, teachers and others tasked with keeping our failing health-care and social welfare systems going in spite of so little support from our provincial leaders.
We are in great danger of reaching a tipping point which will take many generations, if ever, to recover from. There are so many serious problems and so few, if any, real solutions provided by the leaders we have come to count on.
There are success stories in the world. As our leaders it is their responsibility to seek them out and apply them to our desperate situation.
While fighting successfully for prosperity and wealth is important, much more important is what we do with that financial success. We have a chance here to create a truly just society. Please don’t let all of these worthy goals slip away.
I have waited for a socially conscious journalist to take up this story. For some reason these stories about the province’s most vulnerable don’t seem to be worthy of much attention. I can only hope that my words will help start this most important of conversation.
In spite of everything. I always hope for the best in people.
