If I was a federal Liberal supporter, then there is no doubt I would vote for Mark Carney to lead the Party.
In my very humble opinion, he did a good job when at the Bank of Canada (as governor). I believe he has a good economic understanding, and is the one Liberal actually concerned about the country's huge debt, deficit and the lack of financial management the country has had over the last nine years. I think he totally understands that budgets do not balance themselves.
The problem we have is the rest of the Liberal “crew” in Ottawa, who over the last several years have allowed our country to get into its current financial state.
Yes, it's easy to heap all the blame on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, but his caucus and his party all went along with him and will inevitably be there, alongside Carney, suggesting there will be little, if any, real changes made.
Carney will be a huge improvement over Trudeau but right now, Canada needs and deserves fresh ideas. We need a government that recognizes Canada should be so much better economically, a government that can actually get things done to get our economy moving and producing revenues to reduce our ridiculous debt and give Canadians improved income.
In the current political climate, (it needs) a government that can, and will, tell U.S. President Donals Trump that no, he is not going to grab our energy, our critical minerals, our water or anything else that he seems to think he can abscond with.
I look forward to (Canadian political) party leaders going head-to-head (campaigning), which hopefully comes sooner rather than later and which of course is another thing Canadians deserve.
Let's see who will lead Canada into the future.
