I Don't Agree

"Saskatchewan Embraces Same Sex"? Anyone with some knowledge of Canadian politics knows that that is not what happened. Rather, a lone activist judge in Saskatchewan has decided for the rest of the province that the centuries-old definition of marriage, which is ordained by God and has served as a base for family, community, and nation for two millennia, is in contradiction to the holiest of holy documents, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and must therefore be altered to accommodate the 1% of the population pushing for change.
There was no democratic process involved. The people of Saskatchewan, or any of the other 6 provinces for that matter, did not have a say in this decision. By contrast, the people in 11 US states were granted their democratic right and were given the opportunity to vote for or against entrenching the definition of marriage into their state constitution. All eleven voted overwhelmingly in favour of the traditional definition.
I don't know that - given our track record - Canadians would vote the same way, but we should at least insist on the same democratic opportunity as those in the US had.
