I just finished reading "Where did Canada go?" Isn't that the truth. We, as Canadians, are giving away our country. We need immigrants to come into the country but does that mean we have to give up our traditions? We, as Canadians, have always respected the cultural beliefs immigrants bring to our country but shouldn't we expect the same back?
Why is it up to us, in our country, to give up what we have honored as tradition? December is the Christmas Season - unfortunately the commercialization of the Christmas Season has taken away the simple traditions of Christmas - family being the first to fall by the wayside.
If Canadians are expected to honour and respect the traditions brought in by immigrants - these same people should be honouring and respecting our Canadian traditions.
Canada was obviously an alternative to their homeland and if we as Canadians went to some of these homelands it would be up to us to fit in, not the other way around. It's bad enough seeing the X-mas signs coming out!
