Death And Destruction

Sometimes I can’t believe the ignorance of some people. Would C.R. really have us stripped of all forms of ENTERTAINMENT to ensure we concentrate solely on “hostage crises” and “horrific killings”?

That’s right C.R., I put entertainment in big letters to make a point… news coverage of Paris Hilton’s handbag, or Eminem’s latest spat is purely for entertainment. I can just hear you saying now “What a waste of print! We need more on the hostages!!”

After all, I’m sure the world would be a much better place if the only news our country’s citizens and children had to read was death and destruction. In fact, I think you’re right… lets ban all forms of media… print, television, radio, hey even Castanet… and then go help people in poor war-torn countries instead. That’ll help things significantly. Oh wait, wasn’t that what Margaret Hassan was doing?

Maybe instead what you’re suggesting is we pressure our government to bow to terrorist demands? Doing that would guarantee 10,000 more hostage takings the next day, but hey then we’d have more news to fill C.R.’s papers!!

The reality of the situation is these countries don’t want our help. Every man, woman and child in Canada could protest and it still wouldn’t change that fact.

Now please excuse me, but I have more important things to attend to. I’ve heard Ashlee Simpson wasn’t wearing matching socks during her hoe-down dance on SNL!
