Don't hike B.C.'s carbon tax

I find it ludicrous that, on one hand, the provincial government is giving the wine industry $70 million to help the industry, naming the importance of wineries to tourism in our province as one reason.

On April 1, the provincial government will increase B.C.'s carbon tax, which will contribute to the (difficulty) of middle-class Canadians to live in this province.

The $70 million will come from tax dollars and the carbon tax will also take money out of taxpayers' pockets.

Add to that gasoline prices in the province are predicted to be well above $2.20 per litre by (this) summer, of which the provincial government currently collects 14.31 cents per litre in carbon tax and that will increase to 17.61 cents per litre on April 1. That will cause a domino effect of increasing all other prices. Who does the provincial government think will want to travel to British Columbia when there are more affordable travel destinations.

Yes, the carbon tax will affect all Canadians, but the provincial government has the power to provide some relief by not increasing the B.C. carbon tax.

It’s no wonder younger people are leaving this province in droves. This provincial government has lost touch with the needs and concerns of the residents of British Columbia.

This government's only agenda seems to (take from) the tax-paying public every dollar it can. It's enough already.
