All I can say about crime rising in Kelowna the answer why it is increasing is in front of us. The gov't cuts have had people resort to crimes to support their families or themselves. Doesn't mean I support that at all but it means that if the gov't keeps cutting the wrong people off welfare that NEED it and taxing the poor at the rate they are at...the crime rate will just only increase.
The prices on food, gas, etc increases but the wages are stuck at 1990's level. I disagree with the gov't ruling that all single moms must go back to work when their child is 3 yrs old mainly because who pays for the child-care? It should not be at 3 yrs old but at 5-6 yr old when the child goes to school full time then the single mom is able to work and the cost for child care will be 80% lower that way for us taxpayers.
My husband walked out on us because the stress to support the family has him at his breaking point and I end up with three kids to feed. What do I do? Rely on the food bank, go hungry myself, so my three kids can have more food. I can't wait till my last child is in grade one so I can go back to work full time since they are all under 3 yrs old.
Living on welfare is no picnic for me. But my point here is I can see why the crime rate is increasing since my husband is desperate and wonders if doing crimes will help the family out but knows it's wrong. So I got to see the other side.....BUT I still don't support the reasons for crimes but can understand why some people do go that far. It's mainly the fault of the gov't that pushes people over the edge to that point. After all there
is cause AND effect......
