Re. Score clock to cost $600K (Castanet, Jan. 22)
I was here in 2006 when local hockey families (convinced) the City of West Kelowna to chip in to build a new rink so their kids could play hockey.
The city cost would be "less than a million" and added to the fundraising the hockey folks were doing. As I recall, the taxpayers share came in millions higher before (Royal LePage Place) was built.
The West Kelowna Warriors team and the BCJHL are private enterprises, which, hopefully make money for the owners.
Local taxpayers have already paid for (Royal LePage Place) twice over. It's crazy to believe any level of government should get involved in this insane $600,000 clock (scoreboard).
Get by with what's there now, or the league and/or the team should get out their chequebooks.
This is crazy. No new clock.
