I am in complete disbelief of the Ban on Pit Bulls put in place in Ontario. As a person with a lot of experience with dogs (I am an amimal health technician), I can assure you that I have been bitten several times by dogs in veterinary care. I have been bitten by a golden retriever, several german shepards and even a yorkshire terrier, but I have never even been growled at by a pitbull.
Pitbulls are TRAINED to be vicious by irresponsible owners. It is NOT genetic, they are very playful and affectionate dogs by nature. I have several firends still involved in the veterinary business who own pitbulls and they are lovely dogs. Smart and playful, pitbulls make a wonderful family dog and tend to love kids (and protect them from danger)!
I wish that people would take time to gather information about things that they fear, rather than jump on the nearest bandwagon against them. Banning pitbulls would be a huge mistake as it would eliminate a really special breed of dog from our society. I encourage all of you in support of the ban to spend some time with the breed before you rally to have it removed from our province, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised.
