We could segregate the boys from the girls but wouldn't it be an easier idea if we just adopted some ideas from other cultures? That is, why don't we just send the girls to school covered completely from head to toe in order to show how embarrassed women ought to be about their bodies. That's right - cover everything - faces, necks, ankles etc. In this way, boys won't be tempted to look at the other gender at all. More school work would be done, wouldn't it?
I am getting increasingly frustrated with the commotion regarding the appropriate clothing for girls. Every generation has gone through this "turmoil" at some point and surprisingly, everything worked out okay. This years fashion trend will, at some point, end and then of course, something new will crop up. This shows us that the world is not static, but ever-changing.
Separating boys and girls is just a plain stupid idea. Excellent ideas can be proposed from both sexes and if classes were segregated, there will not be an exchange of ideas from another point of view. As a university student, I could easily do many of my courses online or through distance education, but I refuse, as I know that the interchange of ideas and the concepts of certain theories are internalized and then restated differently by males and females, in the classroom. I have gained many interesting insights and views by listening to others' interpretations.
For the record, I do have an eight year old son and I do foresee possible problems for him in regard to the opposite sex, but would argue that, despite what the girls are wearing, he will still be intrigued by them, as our fathers were and their fathers before them.
