"High" School

I am from Winfield, and am disgusted with the way the school particularly high schools) and the police handle a very out of control drug problem.

The high school is in a "drug free zone" and so is the police station about half a block away from the school.

There are more drugs being sold and used in that area than some drug houses. You can smell the aroma of pot and whatever else in the air.

Are the cops and school all oblivious to this? They need to get some drug sniffing dogs going through that school and others I'm sure.

Someway, somehow this has to be brought under control. The school board and the police have to step up to the plate to help protect the innocent from falling victim to all these so very available temptations.

Also the parents of the drug dealing teens and users better pull their heads out of the sand and pay attention.

Yes I do have teenagers, and yes I had one going down a bad path but I was paying enough attention that the situation got handled before it got out of control.

My teen was only in grade 8, although I know that some of her/his friends are dealing drugs and started in elementary school.

Where are the adults who are supposed to be paying attention to this sort of thing? Maybe that's why they call it "high" school.

The drug problem is getting worse. We can educate our children till the cow's come home, but the law and other adults have to get tougher than ever, and quit burying their heads in the sand.

The reality is that more teens will get buried, due to dying from an overdose or bad drugs.
