Recently, the federal government, which pledged $650 million to the Ukraine war effort, cut $1 billion from Canada's military budget.
Once again, the professionals who protect Canada's sovereignty will be required to continue with antiquated equipment, making it difficult to maintain our NATO commitments, not to mention other operational commitments.
Our military will continue to rely on equipment that other countries discarded 30 years ago, as those countries continue to modernize and support their service personnel.
Why is it the current (Canadian) government continues to undermine its support to the very people we rely upon to protect this country?
It is no wonder Canada is currently experiencing retention and recruitment problems in all branches of its armed services.
The current government should be ashamed of the way it treats members of our military.
