No sympathy for addicts

There is no such thing as a "safe” supply for hard drug users. That is what we call an oxymoron.

There never has been a "safe” supply and there never will be. Did people suddenly forget about the communities that were devastated during the crack epidemic of the 1980s? Or the heroin epidemic that killed countless veterans during the Vietnam War?

Hard drugs still kill drug users even when they don't contain fentanyl. Fentanyl just increases the chance of dying sooner rather than dying later.

This utter lack of personal accountability, that has been actively encouraged by the provincial and federal governments, does more damage to drug users than anything else.

In the past, drug users knew that death was a potential risk of doing hard drugs and accepted that reality as the potential cost of doing business. Now that risk has all but been removed, replaced by the expectation that a good samaritan will appear and whip out their Narcan or Naloxone to prevent an overdose death.

When you remove accountability, you remove responsibility.
