Broken system

Everybody knows our system is broken when corporate profits are soaring while real wages are slipping and more inflation is staring us in the face.

But we live in a democracy, where government policies and tax dollars are directed toward the betterment of the majority of people right?

Everybody knows our elected politicians and government officials have the tricky task of trying to convince us they are working in our interests when it is clear protecting obscene profits is the main goal.

We are to believe there is no alternative to a system that destroys lives and is on the way to making our dear earth uninhabitable.

So once you know, it’s hard to look, and it’s harder to look away. So what will convince people they can contribute to attaining a better world and doing so has incredible benefits. Also, not doing so will have steadily more devastating detriments and will be fatal, whereas to do so can win liberation.

Liz Rowley, leader of the Communist party of Canada will offer some thoughts on these topics-why things are the way they are and what can be done about it March 17 at 7 p.m. at Okanagan College’s room E213.
