We need to ban the shipping (out of province) of raw logs and adopt a law, such as one as in Oregon, that requires all logs must be cut before leaving the state.
That law, I believe, was adopted in 198 or 1990. Logging, lumber mills and the spin-off jobs related are huge part of employment in B.C.
We also need to start doing more value-added projects with our timber.
Good going Oregon.
