Losing basic values

When I was growing up, there were certain values we were taught.

Whatever happened to honesty and integrity; saying what you mean and meaning what you say, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all; not offering your opinion unless you are asked for it; accepting responsibility and the consequences of your own actions, your word being as good as a contract and being gracious in victory and defeat?

To a lot of people, thsse values have no meaning. If something goes wrong, it is someone else's fault.

Hiding behind social media, people say whatever they want and say things they would never say to someone in person.

It also does not help when we have people like (former U.S President) Donald Trump and U.S. radio host) Alex Jones, powerful people, spewing lies and falsehoods. Those individuals have a huge followings and what they say—to some—is gospel.

So much has been lost with the advancement of technology and upbringing. We are teaching our children it is OK to behave this way

It really is sad to see.
