Whatever happened to "when the going gets tough, the tough get going"?
My favourite (television drama from the 1970s) Barretta quote is, "if you can't do the time, then don't do the crime".
Maybe it's time for the B.C. Attorney General to step up to the plate. Keep arresting the violent and 200-plus arrest career criminals and then put pressure on the judiciary to keep them in jail.
Everyone likes to quote their favourite part of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms regarding being held without bail. Well, there is another part to that. If the accused is, or poses, a threat to society bail can be refused. I guess judges forget about that part.
(Residents) throughout B.C. and Canada are fed up with the “catch and release” system we have.
Lord knows, if you beat the daylights out of a thief in your house or on your property you’ll be thrown in jail and sentenced harsher than the criminal ever is.
