Numbers don't add up

Re. Cannabis for veterans (Castanet, Aug. 7)

I am sceptical of the numbers given by the Canadian military regarding cannabis reimbursement.

Doing the math, in the first year each patient was afforded what would purchase a full pound of very high-grade cannabis at that time. Now however, the military expects to pay out over $8,500 to each patient.

At today’s prices this would amount to more than four pounds each.

Is this another case of the military telling us it needed to buy the left-handed golden hammer that never got used?
