Very wary of all dogs

Re. Steve Brandel’s letter On-leash dogs also a concern (Castanet, Aug.3)

I have always loved dogs, as many of my family members own some that are lovely breeds even though my husband and I have chosen not to own one ourselves for various reasons.

However, after a very vicious attack by a leashed dog last February that drew blood and left teeth marks on my leg, I am now very wary of all dogs, especially those that are off-leash.

When a dog runs up to me, I have no idea what it intends to do—maybe just to be friendly or maybe not.

So yes, please keep you dog on a leash unless in a designated off-leash area.
