In this recent article regarding the City, Council states that it has instructed its staff to "look into" by-laws as ways of clamping down on the drug problem in Kelowna. I think that this is a wonderful idea and would hope that the City starts with its "own back yard". They own a property on the corner of Bernard and Dilworth that is currently boarded up. This home is a huge attraction for drug addicts as it has a private yard, lots of trees surrounding the property and the City was even kind enough to leave the power on for them!!!!!
I live near by and after numerous calls to the City about this property, we were informed that this situation would have to go to City Council within the next couple of weeks to determine what, if anything, would be done about this property. Well, it has been over 2 months now and we continue to call the RCMP, by-law and the City every time we see some more occupants in the yard/house. This problem should be addressed immediately as it has put the safety of my kids in jeopardy, not to mention the declining property values in the neighborhood.
Come on City Council!!!! Get your act together. Enough of the "look into it" crap and get busy and "do something" for a change!!!
Sincerely, a Kelowna taxpayer!!!!
